Vermont Beef Producers Spring Graded Feeder Cattle Auction

The Vermont Beef Producers Association held their 20th annual spring

graded feeder cattle sale on Saturday May 7th, in Essex Junction. Demand was

very good on all weight classes of calves and yearlings both from buyers

looking to put light calves on grass, and those looking to finish out heavier

cattle. Tight feeder supplies and notions of record fat cattle prices

predicted for the last quarter of the year promoted a very active trade. All

cattle were pre-vaccinated and weaned prior to the sale. Cattle were graded

and weighed the day before the sale, and sold by the cwt, on their in-

weights.

Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1-2 300-400 lbs 126.00; 500-600 lbs

120.00-132.00; 600-700 lbs 126.00-130.00; 700-800 lbs 126.00-131.00; 800-900

lbs 128.00-135.00; 900-1000 lbs 143.00.

Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1-2 300-400 lbs 130.00; 400-500 lbs

123.00; 500-600 lbs 121.00-129.00; 600-700 lbs 117.00-123.00; 700-800 lbs

126.00-128.00; 800-900 lbs 123.00-132.00; 900-1000 lbs 132.00-139.00.
